Celebrating the Queen’s birthday

I tell you a secret, Steven my hubby is a true royalist and today we are celebrating the Queen’s birthday at home. At diner, we toasted her after saying grace. Steven saw her and Philip in 1982 driving by the Church of the Good Shepherd church, Rossmore, Parkstone.  We are watching again this special programme  dedicated for her birthday on channel 5.

The Queen lighting a beacon

The Queen has lit the first of more than 900 beacons lighting up across the UK and overseas as part of her 90th birthday celebrations. The monarch, accompanied by Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, are also attending a private dinner in Windsor Castle.Earlier, cheering crowds lined the streets in Windsor as the Queen took part in a walkabout. On Twitter, the Queen thanked senders of “#HappyBirthdayYourMajesty” tweets.

In another tweet, the Queen said: “I send  my best wishes to those who are celebrating their 90th birthday… on this shared occasion, I send my warm congratulations to you.”

Just for the record, Steven just told me he’d love to meet the Queen and I will have to agree with that. Who knows!

What  are you doing tonight my friends? Have a blessed evening.

How Can I Become A Christian?

The Isaiah 53:5 Project

Realize Who God Is

It all starts with a realization of Who God is. The Bible says He is the creator of the universe (Genesis 1:1) and creator of man (Colossians 1:16). God is holy (1 Peter 1:16), righteous (Psalm 145:17), perfect (Matthew 5:48) and is the judge (Romans 2:16) of all mankind. He is all-powerful (Luke 18:27), all-knowing (Psalm 139:2-6), and is everywhere (Job 28:24). God is eternal (Psalm 90:2), infinite (Psalm 102:25-27), and unchanging (Hebrews 13:8). He is sovereign (Romans 8:28-30), good (Psalm 25:8), merciful (Daniel 9:9), and gracious (Psalm 103:8). Understanding these attributes helps build a proper foundation to our need for Him.

Special time!

At last, our daughters visited us one after the other. Tonight I will speak about Im’s visit and I will tell you about Cam’s visit tomorrow! Even though time’s gone so fast, I find myself thinking of what we said and what we did together and my heart is filled with joy and I give thanks to the Lord for his abundant blessings on our family.

Imo who studies in London flew from Stansted and stayed ten days with us. I picked her up in Poitiers and as we were driving off the car park, we saw Mickle our Scottish friend who lives also in Civray so I offered him a lift. That evening we went to a  restaurant called The Relais civraisien. I ‘d booked before hand asking them if they had a choice of vegan food. It was very quiet, no ambiance. Steven chose the ‘tête de veau’. Imogen had an  asparagus and carrot starter and another vegetable dish for her main. In England, in most menus, there is a choice of Vegetarian dishes indicated with a V and if there are less Vegan options, chef and waitresses know about them.

The following week we went to the Hotel du Commerce restaurant.  When I booked , I asked if they had anything for my daughter who is a vegan, in French ‘végétalien’. Once I explained what it meant, the owner told me that they could cater for her. When we looked at the menu, there was nothing at all for vegetarian or vegan. Everything had meat or fish/seafood so we spoke to the waitress and again we had to explain what it meant. Fortunately, the chef appeared and told us that he could do a risotto with vegetables; he had a dairy cream that he could use. Imo said she’d rather have the risotto made with water. Our food was wonderful and beautifully presented and we had a great time!

We went to the cinema and watched Marseille, a very good comedy!

For my birthday we went to my brother Denis who lives in Niort. The night before Imo helped me prepare a drizzle lemon cake. Denis cooked a leg of lamb for us and roasted vegetables for  Imo. We watched a film at his too but I cannot remember its name!

Have a blessed evening  🙂
