Another Saturday

image

Cheers! Steven and I are having a drink in the Sun Inn and I thought I’d have half a cider, the least alcoholic and it happens to be a perry! Very nice!

image

We took some books to a charity shop ( it’s hard for me to get rid of books however it was a slow decision) and clothes and the Christmas tree. Then we used a voucher to buy two 5 litres interior paint in our local homebase which happens to be closing down. We were contemplating buying a steamer to take wall papers down in our French house but in the end we didn’t.
We haven’t been here together for a long time. When Imogen stayed with us last week we popped in on Tuesday after school!

I was very upset to read about the explosion in a hotel in Ouagadougou. Will you join me in  prayers. Our Father in heaven, we ask you to comfort the victims and their families, surround them with your love and draw them closer to you. We ask you in the name of our Saviour and redeemer Jesus-Christ. Amen
Hope you are having a great Saturday.

Back in France!

Steven and I finally arrived in Civray at 6 40 pm. Driving down from Stafford to Dover was fine as the traffic on the M 1 was fairly smooth! We caught the 6 40 P & O ferry and had a small breakfast there! Steven likes driving in France because there is hardly anybody on the motorway! We noticed a fair amount of buzzards waiting patiently on the fences. You can buy a latte for less than £2.00 in any services!
The boss is exhausted now so I will wash up and say ninite!
Be blessed and the Lord keep you safe, in the name of Jesus-Christ

From Calais to Civray

Today is the first day of our French hols. We woke up at 3:15 in Dover and crossed the Channel at 4:30 on a P&O ferry (Only 10 minutes late) Perfect conditions, pleasant people on board..Steven noticed that if you wanted WiFi you had to pay £3.OO which is strange considering the crossing costs £ 200. When I drink a latte in Costa I have free WiFi.

We stopped on the aire de la Baie de Somme but noticed that the café crème didn’t taste as nice as usual. The site is wonderful though and the ducks quacked joyfully!

As we headed towards Poitiers I couldn’t help gazing at a sky of a different beauty; as if there were finger prints..
So nous parlons français et nous avons fait une promenade en bicyclette du camping jusqu’à Civray.
Bonne nuit bénie mes amis.
PS Meet one of the goats doing freely in the campsite!

Back in Niort

We are back in Niort since Monday, enjoying the company of my brother. The weather is fabulous and much warmer that we were expecting for an early Spring. We looked at two houses near a place called Melle but we declined as they were not really what we are looking for. We then walked from my bro’s house to the center of Niort and I discovered a series of amazing doors hence the photos. In Bolton

image

image

We left Hixon at 1030 and as traffic was not too bad we arrived at Bolton at midday. Before we left my lovely neighbour agreed to feed our 2 rabbits as we will probably be back past their bed time!
Verity has booked diner in a restaurant, the Rivington pub and grill outside Bolton for 6 30 pm. It will be lovely to see again Verity and her fiancé David. Have a beautiful day!

First day out!

I hope that you have had a peaceful and blessed Christmas. Today Steve and I are chilling in Lichfield.
Yesterday we had a ‘ board meeting’ to talk about what we were going to do the next two weeks and decided that today we would go to Stafford. Imogen would go to the emergency dentist at 2 provided that she managed to have an appointment. While Steven was topping up his veg in Tesco, Imogen and I would browse the sales..only the 70%..
Nothing happened as planned. First we got up at 9 then I rang the dentist at 9:10 and was told that all the emergency appointments had gone. I thought it was best to let Imogen sleep a bit more and I put on the coffee. Looking after the two rabbits took a little longer than I thought because I couldn’t catch Mima Leah! She is so shy!
After our bible readings Steve mentioned that we would go to Lichfield: “There is a guitar shop there so I might as well have them repaired mine. It’s more convenient than going to Bolton!” I agreed and by then it was 12 so I woke Imogen up.”My tooth is not hurting as much. Praise the Lord! ” Just as well because we didn’t have the appointment. “I’m not going to Lichfield. I fancy the rest of my curry for breakfast!”
So we’ve left the guitar in the good hands of Steve and now we are enjoying a brunch.
What are you up to today? Have a wonderful day!

Last week-end

nativity templateI suppose that this post is a bit like an open diary and a very exciting one! Joy! Friday night I was enjoying reading more commentaries on Isaiah 40 and Mark 1, what I did on and off all week. Steven tempted me with a melted Brie served on a small nan bread, and I may have told you before that I love cheese and this was an offer hard to resist.

Saturday, we went to Stone farmer market, the last one before Christmas.  On the way, Steven pointed out at a beautiful heron crossing the road over us. It was too late for me to get a photo and moreover I didn’t have my ‘proper’ camera, only my phone. The stalls were all full of goodies, some of them I found quite dear. There was a stall where French brocante was displayed and I looked at 5 copper pans, however they were light and slightly damaged priced for 55 pounds. Nope. We then went for a drink and my coffee came with cute mince pie. After our drink, we went back to the market and they were about to go home so we managed to get purple and green kale, free-ranged eggs and mushrooms at a bargain price!

Sunday morning, as I was driving to the first church, I asked the Lord to use me to speak to everyone attending each service. After,  I was thanking the Lord that he strengthened me during the two sermons. I know that I couldn’t have done it without him. I also felt so encouraged by the  support of my vicar who has such a great sense of humour (it does help in a big way!) and so grateful to hear everyone’s comments.

Looking back I praise the Lord for an excellent week-end, as he poured grace and mercy on all our family.

May the Lord bless you and your family abundantly this week in Jesus’ name.

A super week-end in photos

This is my friend Di and I at the Green Man in Hixon and Imogen is taking the photo! The second photo is in a restaurant called Pasta di piazza in Stone. We went there on Sunday for a celebration meal, Steven is in the fourth photo. The third photo shows Mollie and Imogen in the Green Man this same evening as in the first photo! The photo of the bonfire was taken at our friends Nicolas and Dennis in Chartley Manor where we had a great time! 🙂

Last day of our hols..

The last day of our hols in Norfolk where we’ve had a relaxing time. Tonight the chef prepared wonderful diner number 5: mussels and king prawns; we bought them at Brancaster on the way back from Wells-on-Sea. After diner I read half of the chapter Being for Blessing 1
I find it extraordinary to discover some of the powerful writings of Julian of Norwich. She talks about the Lord ‘in his love he clothes us, enfolds and embraces us; that tender love completely surrounds us never to leave us. As I saw it he is everything that is good. Reading about the love of our Lord for us his beloved creatures always makes me emotional..and fills me with joy! Have a blessed evening!

HOPE and PEACE In An Uncertain World

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1-2
