Another Saturday

image

Cheers! Steven and I are having a drink in the Sun Inn and I thought I’d have half a cider, the least alcoholic and it happens to be a perry! Very nice!

image

We took some books to a charity shop ( it’s hard for me to get rid of books however it was a slow decision) and clothes and the Christmas tree. Then we used a voucher to buy two 5 litres interior paint in our local homebase which happens to be closing down. We were contemplating buying a steamer to take wall papers down in our French house but in the end we didn’t.
We haven’t been here together for a long time. When Imogen stayed with us last week we popped in on Tuesday after school!

I was very upset to read about the explosion in a hotel in Ouagadougou. Will you join me in  prayers. Our Father in heaven, we ask you to comfort the victims and their families, surround them with your love and draw them closer to you. We ask you in the name of our Saviour and redeemer Jesus-Christ. Amen
Hope you are having a great Saturday.

The Bethlehemian Rhapsody

Here is the wonderful story of Jesus, the living God.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me…

14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read,17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19     to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

23 Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”

24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”

28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

Nuit romane, Malted milk and Toni Green

IMG_20150811_230030063[1]

Last night we went to a two hour concert in Civray as part of the ‘romanesque night’, the square, la place,  was full of English and French civraisiens and the music ensemble was wonderful; the singers were Malted Milk and Tony Green; their melodious and warm voices surrounded us in a charming way…as the lighting on the newly renovated church smoothed any rough edges.

We met our friend Mikael (last photo) who told us that it was a ‘great’ night as always. He’s lived in Civray for eight years and is a fan of those free delightful music evenings!IMG_20150808_214036188[1]

Last week-end was sublime as we went to Limoges to my school friend Brigitte’s son’s wedding, Gaetan and Chloe. I hadn’t seen my friend for thirty years so it was great to meet all her family!

My reading list!

Just when I have to make sure that I do not go over my very limited budge, I happen to find books that I ‘must’ read. For instance, Knowing God by J I Parker.  It was recommended by  Alister McGrath in his interview by Jenny McGill for DTS and also I would like to read some of Alister’s books too. But for now, I have to wait! I am slowly digesting Deuteronomy and I thank Robert  Solomon for his explanations in Encounter with God. What are you reading my friends? Have a blessed day 🙂

Home sweet home

My internet stopped working because I’ve run out of space on my hard drive ran out! So I started to move some folders manually; and it didn’t make much difference! So I’ve had to move lots of folders and guess what, it’s going to take ages! No problem! It’s Friday evening the only day when Steven and I watch TV! We are watching Scorched, an american film about a bank robbery and so far it is pretty weird but i suppose there is potential. There is that guy who gets spit at by his pet lizard ? John Cleese just appeared! In any case just in case the film is a bore I always do something else so I’m talking to you in the cyberspace and if you think about it this is rather extraordinary.. but so addictive.. I hope you are having a blessed Friday evening!

World stroke day

In UK a stoke occurs every 3.5 minutes.
Today we thought we’d go to Kings Lynn. Since we were last here over two years ago we found that they made minor renovations to the market place.

image

After a bit of shopping we went to the Riverside Art Centre.

image

In one the gallery we spoke to the Stroke volunteers who were holding a day of awareness there. I had my blood pressure taken 112/63. I was told it was good.

We are back in the caravan I’m enjoying a cup of coffee while the boss is concocting a venison casserole using the shanks he bought in the local butcher in Wells yesterday! How is your day going?

It’s been a beautiful day..

We went to Titchwell (surprise!) and Wells on Sea again!

Today I have kept reading on and off ‘Being a priest today’ an amazing book if you want to explore further your calling towards ordination. I should say that this is not just reading but more of a learning curve that is very exciting.
Please keep me in your prayers.
Have a blessed evening.

Wells-on-Sea

What a beautiful weather we’ve had today! The high street is full of families visiting and the holiday ambiance is palpable..I notice some different souvenir shops and added bookshops too! After lunch in a pub at the top of the high street we went our own ways as I wanted to browse books in a charity bookshop. Steven wanted to find a butcher. After some time in a craft fair I moved
to the harbour. There I noticed the head of a bird in the water; it kept disappearing in the water for food and coming back up! Steven told me it was a young cormorant.. Watch this space I will put a photo later as I was too far to take it with my mobile!

HOPE and PEACE In An Uncertain World

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1-2
